AAG's Online Community is now live

AAG's Online Community is now live!  We're excited to enter this new phase of member collaboration by giving AAG members a way to connect, engage and share. As a direct, safe, and secure connection to our AAG members, we believe this is one of the most exciting member benefits in our history. All AAG members have access to this platform via the AAG website:

  • Once you are logged in to our homepage, click the ‘Community’ icon located at the top of the page. This will take you to the community, where the first task it will ask you to complete is to read through and accept the Terms of Use.
  • Once you have done this, we recommend booking marking this page for ease of access next time.

Over the next few months, we’ll be introducing new tools that will make the community more effective, valuable and fun. We’ll keep you posted.

AAG Research Trust Grants now open and awardee showcase

Grants made available through the AAG Research Trust opened on 1 March and close on 14 April. In this round, funding is available under:

  • The RM Gibson Program: Up to three grants of up to $10,000 (inc GST) each; and a possible additional grant of up to $10,000 (inc GST), for projects with a substantive dementia focus.
  • The Strategic Innovation Program: two grants of up to $30,000 for early and mid-career researchers in ageing and/or practitioners working in ageing.
  • A dedicated Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander-led grant of up to $25,000 is available for applications involving older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

The Research Trust pages on the AAG website provide information on each grant, including aims, eligibility, assessment criteria and application guidelines. Applications must be made through the Research Trust webpage.

While you’re there, be inspired by new additions to the ‘awardee showcase’, which shares, promotes and celebrates the work undertaken by previous grant recipients.

Australasian Journal on Ageing (AJA) Volume 42 (Issue 1)

Volume 42 (Issue 1) of Australasian Journal on Ageing is now available. This first wholly online issue:

The Journal is also pleased to introduce its new Editor in Chief, Professor Mark Hughes.

AAG members have free access to the Journal through the membership portal.

One more thing: Spam and virus blocks

Spam and virus protection programs have been going into overdrive lately, with many AAG members unable to receive or access communications from AAG, including password reset request emails. We share your frustration! If you’re having this problem, please:

  • Ask your IT administrator to put AAG on your organisation’s ‘white list’
  • Mark AAG as a ‘safe sender’ (in Outlook, click on ‘Junk’ and select ‘Never block sender’)
  • Once the password reset emails from AAG can get through to you, log into your AAG membership account and reset your password.
